Riders strive day to day for cadence, bend and rhythm. No matter how hard you and your horse work, if the arena you are using is poorly maintained, the schooling will suffer.
Corners are of vital importance to aid collection and preparation for the execution of movements. Whatever surface is used, the arena must have corners that are ridable and smooth.
The arena should be as level as possible. Your horse cannot give his best if he has to contend with hills, holes, ridges & humps. If confidence and balance are lost due to unsure footing, progress will be hindered.
